I’m honored to share that From the Drop of Heaven has been selected as a Sunbury Press Sunny Award Winner from Brown Posey Press, the literary imprint of the book’s publisher. This annual award recognizes titles that exemplify the press’s mission—books that shine in literary quality, originality, and connection with readers

To be included among them is deeply meaningful, especially for a novel that seeks not just to entertain, but to preserve forgotten histories and amplify voices long overlooked.
Why Being a Sunbury Press Sunny Award Winner Matters
From the Sunbury Press website: “The SUNNY Awards are given annually by Sunbury Press, Inc. for each imprint they publish. The authors and books awarded best exemplify the mission and values of Sunbury Press, Inc. The authors are dedicated to their craft. Their books are high quality and are among the bestsellers in their category for the calendar year. These books reflect the very best of what we publish—works that are bold, thought-provoking, and beautifully written. The Sunny Award is a celebration of books that stay with readers long after the final page.”
“This work exemplifies our commitment to publishing high-quality, meaningful literature.”
— Sunbury Press, Inc.
“Sunbury Press publishes hundreds of titles across a wide spectrum of genres, including fiction, history, memoir, and regional interest. Only a small number of books receive this internal honor, selected by the editorial and marketing team for their excellence and resonance.”
To have From the Drop of Heaven recognized in this way, by the very team who believed in it from the start, is a deeply affirming moment in the book’s journey.
About the Book
From the Drop of Heaven is a work of historical fiction set in the late 16th and early 17th-century principality of Salm, deep in the heart of the Vosges mountains of France, a region filled with untold stories. It follows the lives of my own ancestors who were caught up in a time of spiritual upheaval and persecution, when official doctrine collided with personal conscience, and when asking the wrong questions could cost you everything.
Though grounded in history, the themes are timeless: family, faith, freedom, and resistance. The Sunny Award acknowledges the novel’s power to speak across centuries to modern readers—readers who still recognize the value of asking difficult questions.
